Synergy started as an IRD Approved Tax Agency in 2018, with an aim to provide affordable high-quality accounting and taxation services to small to medium-sized business owners.
In 2019, Synergy became an Approved Public Practice Entity accredited by the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (“CAANZ”).
As an IRD approved Tax Advisor, Synergy meets all requirements under section 20B(5) of the Tax Administration Act 1994.
It is 100% New Zealand owned and operated.

Synergy Accounting offers hands-on services from Chartered Accountants’ perspective to assist SMEs with their accounting compliance needs and providing them with day to day business advise.
Synergy Accounting offers a transparent cost-effective fee structure that our clients know their commitments upfront, and we do not charge staff training and office administration costs.
The business is currently solely operated by the Founder. Synergy Accounting welcomes all qualified CAs with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience to join.

Who We Are

Sandy Dai
Founder, Former Public Practitioner & Managing Director
Sandy is a former Certified Public Practitioner with more than eighteen years of experience in the chartered accountancy profession. She has worked extensively across the Wellington region, supporting a diverse portfolio of public‑sector agencies, private organisations, and entrepreneurial clients.
Sandy is known for her collaborative, growth‑focused approach. Her advisory style blends technical precision with practical insight, shaped by her own experience as a business owner.
Sandy began her professional journey over two decades ago as a Provisional Member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (“NZICA”). She completed her tertiary studies at Otago University in 2005, specialising in the Chartered Accountancy programme. Her long‑standing membership with NZICA concluded in June 2023 following her decision not to renew. She is now expanding her practice into restructuring, insolvency, and liquidation, bringing her analytical strengths to clients navigating complex financial challenges.
With a strong commitment to professional development and client success, Sandy continues to broaden her expertise while leading Synergy Accounting’s growth.
Synergy Accounting welcomes expressions of interest from qualified Chartered Accountants with at least five years’ post‑qualification experience who wish to join a dynamic, client‑centred practice.
